December 8th 2000 - January 20th 2001
Pitz's recurring subject matter includes cameras, lenses, children's models of medieval castles and whole cities built in miniature. His work deals with light, manipulation, optical distortion and perception. The focus of his work is an ongoing investigation of the relationship of autobiography, or subjective vision, to the science of perception. His most recent projects have included an elaborately researched Michelin Guide to his own life and work. A founding member of the group known as Buro Berlin in the 70s, Pitz has exhibited extensively in Europe.
His site specific exhibition at the Christine Burgin Gallery, incorporates several photographic and three dimensional pieces and will be on view from December 8th until January 20th.
